The Jukebox Man and Contenders Gear up for King George VI Chase at Kempton
The King George VI Chase at Kempton, the highlight of the Boxing Day card, is shaping up to be a fiercely competitive event with seven of the eight runners considered to have a viable chance in this notably strong renewal.
Among the contenders, The Jukebox Man, owned by Harry Redknapp and trained by Ben Pauling, stands as the 4th favourite at around 6-1. Despite having only four starts over fences — including the Kauto Star Novice Chase at Kempton last year and a less demanding Haydock warm-up in mid-November — he is expected to face a strongly run, high-class test. While The Jukebox Man may need to improve to surpass his top rivals based on current ratings, there is potential for him to elevate his form in this environment.
Other key bets include Gaelic Warrior and Fact To File, who emerged as the leading choices following the John Durkan Chase at Punchestown in late November, with Fact To File narrowly defeating Gaelic Warrior by a neck.
Additionally, Jango Baie, last season’s Arkle Trophy winner, is stepping up to three miles for the first time in this renewal and has garnered solid support from those backing his potential at this distance.
