Three Police Officers and Six Militants Killed in Turkey Shooting
On 29 December 2025, a shooting incident occurred in the Elmali district of Yalova province, located south of Istanbul, Turkey. The clash resulted in the deaths of three police officers and six militants. Additionally, at least eight police officers and a night guard were wounded during the operation.
The militants involved were all Turkish nationals. Authorities arrested 115 militants connected to the operation, which was part of more than 100 raids conducted across 15 provinces targeting the Islamic State (IS).
The raid in Yalova was executed with particular caution due to the presence of women and children in the house where the militants were located. The Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an inquiry into the incident, appointing five prosecutors to lead the investigation.
President Erdogan condemned the killings and vowed to continue cracking down on militant activities. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya emphasized that the operation targeted IS militants and was part of widespread raids across the country.
