Tim Keller Secures Third Term as Albuquerque Mayor Defeating Darren White
Tim Keller has won a third term as mayor of Albuquerque by defeating former Sheriff Darren White in the mayoral runoff election, according to unofficial results from the Bernalillo County clerk. This runoff election followed a seven-candidate race on November 5, 2025, where neither Keller nor White achieved more than 50% of the vote on Election Day.
Keller, who holds a nonpartisan office but is aligned with the Democratic Party, has been leading Albuquerque since 2017. His campaign focused on crime reduction, homelessness reform, and highlighted his record-based achievements amid the city's ongoing challenges with violent crime and homelessness. He also emphasized immigrant-friendly city policies, asserting that his platform protected immigrant and refugee communities despite national immigration crackdowns.
Darren White, a Republican and former head of the New Mexico State Police and Bernalillo County sheriff, campaigned on restoring public safety and ending sanctuary city policies. White is also a longtime law enforcement official and local radio station programming manager who previously ran for Congress in 2008.
Both candidates prioritized public safety and housing in their campaigns, reflecting concerns in Albuquerque about violent crime rates and homelessness.
