Todd Murphy Recalled for Fourth Ashes Test as Australia Adjusts Squad
Todd Murphy has been recalled to the 15-man Australian squad for the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne, expected to feature from Boxing Day at the MCG. Murphy, 25, who has taken 22 wickets in seven Tests, last played for Australia against Sri Lanka in February and had been out of Cricket Australia's contracted list earlier this year. He also has recent Australia A experience and performed well in the Sheffield Shield at the MCG in October, dismissing New South Wales' top three batters including Sam Konstas and Kurtis Patterson.
The squad has seen other changes due to injuries and rest. Nathan Lyon will undergo right hamstring surgery and is ruled out for the remainder of the summer. Pat Cummins has been rested for the Boxing Day Test, with Steve Smith named as captain in his absence.
The Australian squad includes fast bowlers Jhye Richardson, Brendan Doggett, and Michael Neser, alongside a batting group led by Cameron Green, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, and Marnus Labuschagne.
Looking ahead, Australia is scheduled for two Tests against Bangladesh in August, a three-Test series in South Africa in September, followed by a red-ball series against New Zealand next summer.
