Tracking ICE and CBP Arrests, Detentions, and Deportations Since Trump's Inauguration
Guardian US has been tracking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrests, detentions, and deportations since the inauguration of former President Donald Trump using ICE’s biweekly release data.
The data sources cited include ICE Initial Book-Ins by Arresting Agency and Month for arrests; ICE Currently Detained by Criminality and Arresting Agency for detentions; and ICE Removals for deportations. It is noted that arrest figures may undercount actual numbers because ICE reports only arrests that result in detention.
Each fiscal year's first data release may include carryover data from the previous year and thus cover more than two weeks of activity. To provide a comprehensive dataset, Guardian US has archived older releases through the Vera Institute for Justice.
This analysis places the data in the context of immigration enforcement under the Trump administration and broader shifts in immigration policy.
