Former President Donald Trump disclosed details about a medical checkup from October, clarifying that the scan performed was a CT scan and not an MRI. This was his second 2025 medical checkup, following an April visit during which his health was reported as exceptional. White House physician Barbabella stated that the CT scan and overall examinations were normal, indicating Trump's health is comparable to someone 14 years younger than his actual age of 79.
Doctors initially debated between conducting an MRI or CT scan, ultimately choosing the CT to definitively rule out cardiovascular issues; the results came back normal. Trump expressed regret over taking the scan, claiming it gave Democrats ammunition and insisted that nothing was wrong with his health. He has asserted perfect health and has successfully completed his third cognitive exam, advocating for mandatory cognitive testing for presidential and vice presidential candidates.
Trump's campaign advisor Leavitt framed the disclosure of additional scan details as an act of transparency and contrasted it with President Biden's approach, emphasizing that "there is nothing to hide." Despite this, critics have pointed to signs such as swollen ankles and bruising on Trump's hands as part of ongoing scrutiny regarding his health.
