Trump Highlights Economic Recovery and Announces Warrior Dividend Checks
Former President Donald Trump claimed that the U.S. economy is being brought back from the brink of ruin, attributing high prices to the prior administration and Democrats. He announced the issuance of Warrior Dividend checks for U.S. troops, distributing $1,776 per service member with payments reportedly already on the way before Christmas.
The payments accompany a large tax and domestic policy bill signed in July, which Trump said preserves permanent tax breaks originally enacted by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The bill also adds deductions for tips and overtime wages. Trump asserted that this legislation will deliver the largest tax cuts in American history and that the resulting economic boom would be visible next year.
Trump further highlighted increasing military recruitment and emphasized that the U.S. enjoys global respect. He cited efforts to secure hosting rights for major international events such as the World Cup and the Olympics as part of his accomplishments. Additionally, he noted the upcoming celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Contrasting with Trump's optimistic outlook, a Fox News national poll included in the report found that 76% of voters view the economy negatively.
