U.S. Department of Justice Releases Thousands of Records in Epstein–Maxwell Investigation
On December 22, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) released thousands of records related to the Epstein–Maxwell sex-trafficking investigation, including grand jury materials pertaining to Ghislaine Maxwell. Among the released documents, a key Maxwell record alleges that she employed psychological manipulations to lure teenage girls and directed their behavior, effectively normalizing grooming.
Maxwell is currently seeking a possible reprieve from her 20-year sex-trafficking sentence. The case has garnered renewed attention during Donald Trump's presidency, notably marked by Maxwell's transfer to a minimum-security prison camp characterized as more comfortable than others.
Lawmakers have criticized the DoJ for an alleged failure to comply with the Epstein-files law, threatening action despite facing obstacles, as many individuals with power in the case are also accused of noncompliance.
