UK Issues Passports with Most Advanced Security Yet
The UK has begun circulating 300 of its new passports, described by the Home Office as the most secure British passports ever produced. These passports are the first to feature King Charles III’s coat of arms on the front cover, marking a shift from previous designs which displayed the late Queen’s coat of arms. Since 2023, passports have been issued in the king’s name with pages referring to ‘His Majesty’. Existing passports bearing the late Queen’s coat of arms remain valid until their expiry date.
The inside pages of the new passport showcase landscapes representing the four nations of the UK, including Ben Nevis for Scotland, the Lake District for England, Giant's Causeway for Northern Ireland, and Three Cliffs Bay for Wales. To enhance security, these passports include advanced anti-forgery features such as holographs and translucent pages.
