UK Migration and Asylum Statistics for Jul 2024–Jun 2025
Net migration in the UK between July 2024 and June 2025 was 204,000, a decrease of 69% over the previous 12 months according to the Office for National Statistics data published on 27 November 2025.
Immigration arrivals during the same period totaled 898,000, down 31% from the prior year, while emigration rose 7% to 693,000.
Asylum applications from October 2024 to September 2025 reached 110,051, marking a 13% increase compared to the previous 12 months, as reported by the Home Office on 27 November 2025.
Small boat arrivals from January to December 2025 amounted to 41,472, up 13% from 2024, with boats averaging 62 people onboard. There were 84 deaths related to small boat crossings in 2024, according to UN data.
Small boat arrivals accounted for 41% of asylum applications between October 2024 and September 2025, though they made up about 5% of total immigration in the July 2024 to June 2025 period.
Returns and deportations during October 2024 to September 2025 increased by 11% to 36,457.
Entry visas granted between October 2024 and September 2025 were 838,908, a 22% decrease. Study visas represented 53% of all visas granted, with India accounting for 23% of study visas. China and India combined were responsible for about half of study visas.
As of September 2025, 108,085 people were in asylum accommodation in the UK. Of these, 36,273 (34%) were housed in hotels. The government has pledged to end the use of hotels for asylum accommodation by 2029.
