UK Migration Statistics for July 2024–June 2025 Show Significant Changes
Net migration for July 2024 to June 2025 was recorded at 204,000, reflecting a 69% decrease compared to the previous year and approaching pre-Covid levels.
Immigration arrivals during the same period totaled 898,000, marking a decline of 31% over 12 months, while emigration increased by 7% to 693,000.
Asylum applications from October 2024 to September 2025 reached 110,051, an increase of 13% year on year.
Arrivals by small boats numbered 41,472 from 1 January 2025 to 22 December 2025, up 18% compared to the previous year, and these small boats accounted for 41% of asylum applications during October 2024 to September 2025.
Returns and deportations were at 36,457 for the same period, showing an 11% increase year on year.
There were 108,085 people housed in asylum accommodation as of September 2025, including 36,273 staying in hotels; the government has committed to ending hotel use by 2029.
A total of 838,908 entry visas were granted from October 2024 to September 2025, a 22% decrease, with study visas comprising 53% of these and India responsible for 23% of study visas.
As of 22 December 2025, 193 individuals have been returned to France under the UK’s "one in, one out" scheme.
