Waitrose Warns Customers Over Glass Contamination in Deeside Mineral Water
The Food Standards Agency has issued a consumer alert concerning Waitrose No 1 Deeside Mineral Water, both still and sparkling (750ml bottles), due to the risk of glass fragments being present in some bottles. This water is sourced from a spring near Balmoral Castle in Scotland's Cairngorms National Park and is sold at approximately £1.60 per bottle.
Waitrose has removed all potentially affected bottles from shelves and is offering full refunds to customers who return the product or get in touch with customer care. The recall targets specific batch codes: for still water, NOV2027 28; DEC2027 01, 02, 10, 11, and 16; and for sparkling water, DEC2027 01, 03, 12, 15, and 25. Customers are advised not to consume the product if purchased and to return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
No total number of affected bottles has been provided by either the Food Standards Agency or Waitrose. This recall follows several glass shard-related incidents in the same month, including issues with Disaronno Originale bottles and previous Waitrose recalls earlier in the year involving a Santa-themed bottle and plant-based fake meat.
