West Ham suffer 3-0 defeat at Wolves as Nuno Espírito Santo calls display embarrassing
West Ham United were defeated 3-0 by Wolves, conceding all three goals in the first half. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo described the performance as embarrassing and referred to it as his worst day in football.
Since taking over from Graham Potter in September, Nuno Espírito Santo has won only 2 of 15 Premier League games in charge of West Ham. The team is currently winless in nine matches and sits four points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest ahead of their upcoming fixture.
After the match, Nuno walked down the tunnel without shaking hands with Wolves manager Rob Edwards. Despite the poor results, he expressed his desire to continue managing the team, emphasizing the importance of focusing on improvement and gaining results rather than speculating about his future.
Notably, bottom-side teams have won only 2 of the last 32 Premier League games, both of which came against sides managed by Nuno Espírito Santo: Wolves and Nottingham Forest victories over West Ham. Additionally, Nuno’s teams have gone 26 Premier League games without a clean sheet across his tenures at Nottingham Forest and West Ham—the longest drought for a manager in the competition since Steve Kean’s 30-game run.
Nuno also became the first Premier League manager to lose against teams starting the day bottom of the table with two different clubs in the same season, with Wolves and Nottingham Forest both beating West Ham.
West Ham’s next match is against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
