World Cup 2026 Ticket Prices Set to Soar, Raising Concerns Over Accessibility
The World Cup 2026 in North America is expected to attract significantly higher ticket prices, raising concerns about affordability and accessibility for fans.
The cheapest final match ticket in the so-called 'supporter value tier' has been cited at $4,185 (£3,120), while the minimum cost for fans to follow a single team through the draw for match tickets is estimated at about $7,000 (£5,240).
Including additional expenses such as flights and accommodation, the total outlay for some fans could reach around £10,000, which is more than five times the cost experienced during the 2022 tournament.
Football Supporters Europe has described the pricing as a "monumental betrayal" and has called on FIFA to pause the sales of nation-allocated tickets that are not subject to dynamic pricing.
Scottish supporters have highlighted the impact on families, citing potential costs upwards of £15,000 to attend the tournament.
Furthermore, even the cheapest World Cup match tickets now exceed £100, reflecting a broad increase in prices and a reduction in affordability for many football fans worldwide.
