Wrestling Execs Aim to Raise £5m Funding for Project Fight to Launch Europe's Premier Televised Wrestling Brand
Ben Webb, known professionally as Trent Seven and former WWE tag-team champion as well as owner of Fight Club Pro, is leading efforts to raise approximately £5 million for Project Fight, with the goal of creating Europe's top televised wrestling brand.
The project is being advised by Oakwell Advisory, which is involved in fundraising and product development. Discussions about potential collaboration are ongoing with Sunset+Vine and Paramount/Channel 5.
The £5 million funding target implies a pre-money valuation of around £10 million. Project Fight aims to break even by its third year and reach a business value exceeding £100 million within five years.
The initiative seeks to capitalize on Britain's wrestling audience, estimated at roughly 6 million enthusiasts, while also responding to growing international interest exemplified by Netflix's RAW debut, which drew approximately 5 million views.
Content strategy will leverage wrestlers' social media followings and influencer partnerships for distribution. The planned roster is intended to be gender-balanced, including international talent from multiple countries, with an expected combined social media following exceeding 12 million.
A premium pilot event is planned for next year pending successful fundraising.
The project's advisory board includes Roger Draper, former Sport England and Lawn Tennis Association chief, and Peter Angell, CEO of Sunset+Vine.
