XRP and Solana Experience Twice the Volatility of Bitcoin in 2025
In 2025, XRP and Solana exhibited volatility levels twice that of Bitcoin. The realized 365-day volatility rates stood at 87% for Solana, 80% for XRP, and 43% for Bitcoin. Among other top non-stablecoins, BNB recorded 55% volatility while Ether showed 77% volatility.
Bitcoin's volatility declined throughout 2025, driven by growing institutional demand for Bitcoin ETFs. Since January 2024, Bitcoin spot ETFs have attracted $56.96 billion in net inflows, and Ether ETFs have garnered $12.4 billion since July 2024. In contrast, XRP ETFs have pulled in more than $1 billion since their debut in November, and SOL ETFs have attracted $763.91 million.
Despite these inflows, altcoin ETFs require deeper liquidity to achieve volatility levels comparable to Bitcoin. Among the top five tokens by market value excluding stablecoins, Solana remains the most volatile in 2025.
