XRP Ledger Releases Version 3.0.0 with Key Fixes and Preparations for Future Expansion
The XRP Ledger has released version 3.0.0 of its server software, rippled, featuring amendments, bug fixes, improved accounting accuracy, and enhanced protocol extensibility, alongside tooling improvements. Operators are required to upgrade to maintain network compatibility, as this update addresses ledger inconsistencies and prepares the network for future upgrades.
This release primarily focuses on internal fixes rather than new user-facing features. Major changes include correcting token escrow accounting errors, specifically addressing multi-purpose tokens (MPTs) in escrow. Previously, unlocking escrowed tokens with transfer fees reduced the issuer’s locked balance by the gross rather than net amounts, causing discrepancies. The FixTokenEscrowV1 amendment stabilizes supply tracking as the XRP Ledger expands tokenized assets.
Additional fixes cover edge-case issues related to automated market makers, price oracles, and token delivery metadata, supporting the ledger's expansion beyond simple payments. The update also enhances consensus stall detection, logging clarity, JSON parsing, and continuous integration tooling to improve reliability for operators and contributors.
Security measures have been tightened through raised warning levels for malformed validator manifests and improved signature verification logic. These changes bolster security hygiene without altering consensus rules, ensuring a robust foundation for the expected growth in tokenization and decentralized finance on the XRP Ledger.
