Zelenskyy Presents 20-Point Peace Proposal Amid Renewed Russian Attacks Ahead of Trump Meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine is committed to doing whatever is necessary to end the ongoing war with Russia. He announced that he will present a comprehensive 20-point peace proposal during his upcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Zelenskyy emphasized the need for united support from Europe and the United States, warning that only a cohesive international response can halt Russian aggression. He cautioned that if any partners side with Russia, the conflict will persist.
The call for intensified support comes after a severe overnight attack on Kyiv, which involved about 500 drones known as Shaheds and 40 missiles targeting energy facilities and civilian infrastructure. The assault resulted in at least one death, 27 injuries, and damage to residential buildings. Zelenskyy described this offensive as reflective of Russia's true attitude, symbolized by the use of Kinzhal and Shahed weapons, and underscored that Russia shows no intention of ceasing hostilities.
He urged the U.S. and Europe to increase assistance through enhanced air defenses, weaponry, and funding, highlighting continuing shortages despite some European funding decisions already made.
Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine did not initiate the war and has supported ceasefire proposals, including one promoted by Trump. The 20-point plan he intends to present includes compromises to facilitate peace.
President Trump has stated he will make the ultimate decision regarding any peace deal and will not authorize proposals without his approval.
On the other side, Russia's Defense Ministry labeled the recent strike as massive, employing long-range weapons and drones against Ukrainian energy infrastructure and military-industrial targets in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian locations. The ministry also reported shooting down seven Ukrainian drones over Krasnodar and Adygeya during the night.
